Madeline entered foster care at just eight years old, separated from most of her siblings but fortunate to remain close to her twin brother. In the years that followed, she experienced multiple placement breakdowns, an all-too-common reality for children who carry the weight of early trauma. Her challenging behaviours were a reflection of the pain, loss, and instability she faced, making it difficult for carers to provide the consistency she desperately needed.
Everything changed when she was welcomed into the home of John and Moana, foster carers who embraced her with patience, understanding, and unwavering support. However, tragedy struck when both of her foster carers passed away, leaving Madeline without the stability she had finally found.
Today, Madeline is supported full-time by Ability to Achieve, where she has built new relationships, rediscovered a sense of security, and found a place she proudly calls home. Our team is committed to giving her the warmth, reassurance, and belonging she deserves becoming not just caregivers, but a second family she can rely on.
Christina’s early years were defined by constant movement from one placement to another, each transition filled with hope for stability that was too often met with disappointment. Like many young people in care, she longed for a safe, consistent environment where she could simply be herself and feel supported.
When Christina came to live with Ability to Achieve, she finally experienced the sense of belonging she had been searching for. During her two years with us, she formed strong bonds with our team connections filled with laughter, learning, and growth. Staff still fondly recall her cheeky grin, quick humour, and playful personality that kept everyone smiling. Christina’s journey with us was not just about care; it was about healing, confidence-building, and discovering joy again.
Her story reminds us of the incredible resilience young people possess and the life-changing impact that safe, nurturing environments can create. At Ability to Achieve, we feel honoured to have been part of her journey of hope and transformation.
