EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION

ACA overview

What is an ACA?

(ACA) is an alternative care arrangement.

A2A is used as an emergency and temporary accommodation option for a child.

1 For a child in or entering out-of-home care (OOHC) when a preferred foster, relative/kin or Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) placement is not (yet) available.

2. When an immediate placement is not available.

The commencement of an ACA is subject to strict approval processes and ongoing review.

The Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) considers ACAs a form of non-home based emergency care.

They include circumstances where a child in OOHC is accommodated in a serviced apartment, hotel/motel or other short term arrangement.

If you have a child in need of emergency accommodation, please call us and we will organise immediate supports.
